Vitamin B-12 may also play a significant role in heart health. It does so by helping to keep blood levels of homocysteine low. Homocysteine is a substance that is formed when Vitamin B-12 and folic acid levels are minimal, and research has indicated that high blood levels of homocysteine may be a possible risk factor for heart disease.
